A RECENT INTERVIEW

Please take a moment to read this interview that I did with About.com. I truly feel it best represents my thoughts regarding the controversial Olympic selection process and the direction that USA Gymnastics has taken since 2000.

On a related note, I would like to thank those individuals who have shown support for my recent statements and an improved system.

I am sorry to hear your father has terminal cancer. It sounds like your family is very close and has found peace with everything. That is a blessing, as many families never get the chance to do so.

Great interview!!! Those who love the sport of gymnastics we want to see healthy children practicing the sport and, above all, see that they are treated with dignity. I congratulate you for bringing to light what the people need to know for the benefit of our children. I regret so much that your father has cancer, but it is gratifying to know that your family is strengthened in unity. Personally, I will include your dad in my prayers. God will bless you and your family.

You know it is so strange now to read about some of the darker things that happened... I am 26 and a huge fan of yours, always have been. (I had one of the best known fan websites back in "the day" - 1998. Did you ever look at your fan websites?)

Although there was some public knowledge of the abuse in the sport (Little Girls in Pretty Boxes) I never knew you personally went through so much. I commend you for your efforts to bring attention to this cycle of abuse in the sport. Best of luck! People are listening.

Dominique,

Congratulations on all of your accomplishments! I can't believe Atlanta was 12 years ago. I remember tumbling in my living room watching gymnastics. :)

Thank you for speaking out. There always seems to be speculation of healthy coaching of gymnasts and other athletes. On tv, it all seems to be so perfect. I admire you for your willingness to speak up!
